I will work to deliver transport solutions that are reliable and work for the community.

Before privatisation, although not perfect, our public transport worked well. Those in outlying “hubs” or villages such as Clontarf, Seaforth or Balgowlah could catch a bus that took them all the way to the city without changes.

The new spoke and hub system that delivers them to the B-line is proving a disaster.

I will work hard to:

1.    I will ensure we have a well staffed public transport system and a bus timetable that is reliable for students and commuters - urgently!

I’ll reinstate affected routes such as the 168x, 170x, 171x, 172x, E64 - so people can get to work on time, the elderly to their appointments and students can safely go to and from school. Privatisation has been a disaster for our bus service.

2. Solve the problem of too many cars on the road, traffic congestion and too much privatisation of tunnels and buses across Sydney.

There is no business case for the Libs’ version of the tunnel and it should not proceed - I will fight for a better solution for our community.

3.    Introduce vehicle pollution standards, as they have in other OECD countries

Introduce a “Cash for Clunkers” rebate scheme for people to reduce their less fuel efficient cars through Service NSW.

4. Work with traffic experts and the community to deliver a plan that will reduce congestion, bottlenecks and parking issues for the decades to come.

4. Develop and implement a 5 year roadmap to electrify public transport, including either adapted or electric ferries and buses built locally.

5.    Commission electric, fit-for-purpose ferries that are safe, reliable and ensure smooth traffic flow at peak times through urban hubs.

6. Increase investment in active travel infrastructure - towards a benchmark of 50% transport spend on PT and 20% on AT.

We need routes that are safe for e-bikes to protect pedestrians and cyclists.

7.   Implement charging infrastructure for e-bikes near commuter and corporate hubs.

8.    Rollout EV infrastructure that encourages rapid uptake of EV’s and utilises their power as mobile batteries able to return power to the local grid via bi-directional technology.

If you have any other ideas how we can deliver a better transport system, please email me at community@joelinehackman.com.au.

  • It’s time for someone who will speak up about the transport system not working and work to restore reliability and transparency in service contracts. I'm ready to get to work for our community.

Joeline Hackman, Independent Candidate for Manly.

Manly observer bus cancellations

Businesses can’t operate because their staff haven’t arrived, vulnerable users can’t make essential appointments, pupils are missing lessons and car drivers are forced to sit in every increasing traffic jams… something needs to change urgently. Our local MP and State Transport Minister have been quiet on this issue.

Commuters can’t get to work, pupils miss lessons. I will coordinate solutions that work for the community.

Manly Ferry Emerald Class Balmoral

More than 80 defects have been found including cracks in hulls, steering problems, windows shattering, an engine explosion and problems operating safely in high swells or dock at very low tides. This means the ferries are regularly withdrawn from service. I would like to see an upper house enquiry and potentially a refund for these ferries that are not fit for purpose.

The new ferries have significant mechanical and functional problems.

There is emerging evidence that the proposed travel time savings won’t materialise. And that a tunnel is a fast way to get $12 into the pockets of a private company - for not much benefit. I am also troubled by the decimation that I see of Cammeray park and the thought of this privatisation, environmental degradation coming to us without solving the problem of congestion. My experience of state procurement processes shows we need a good hard look at this - and I will do this with our community to ensure we get the right solution to our traffic woes.

The Libs version of the tunnel is not the best solution for our community

A vote for Joeline Hackman is a vote saying: We deserve better.
